In effect there is no such thing as a cure for laryngitis as it usually caused by a virus. I however have recently been affected by laryngitis and I just could not seem to regain my voice, I was starting to become quite worried, I need my speech for work, I need my speech for my kids, I need my speech because I love to talk, I then decided to Google "a cure for laryngitis" in the hope that somebody could help me.

Laryngitis generally occurs from too much screaming & yelling. Even a lot of loud singing can irritate the vocal cords and produce laryngitis. When vocal cords become inflamed and swollen, they can't function properly & voice may sound hoarse and may sometimes block the airway.

Together with overuse, viral infection may also be to blame for laryngitis. For many people, a cold is enough to infect the larynx and cause some degree of hoarseness. More serious viruses like measles and mumps may also cause inflammation of the vocal cords. Most cases of laryngitis are short term and do not involve serious complications. Some of the causes of chronic laryngitis are from excessive alcohol use, a reflux of stomach acid into the throat or esophagus.

But exposure alone to asbestos fiber could not be reason enough to develop laryngeal cancer. The person must be exposed for long period of time before his body begins to react with the ingested or inhaled asbestos fiber.

The other main reason for swollen vocal cords is as a result of a cold. You have had a bad cold; it seems to be getting better, and then - yup, you cannot talk or your voice is at best hoarse and gravelly. You try to sing and your poor swollen vocal cords just will not phonate.

The most popular cure for a sore throat for those who wish to go the natural route is cayenne pepper. It is usually left up to the person's discretion, but take a small amount of cayenne pepper (no more than 1/8th teaspoon) and mix it in some warm water. Take this mixture and gargle with the cayenne pepper and water for a few minutes every fifteen minutes or so. Afterwards, if you need some relief from the burning pepper feeling, pour a little bit of salt into one hand and wet the index finger of the other hand.
